Tax & Legal
Foreign Income
Turkey generally does not tax foreign-sourced income for holders of this visa, making it highly attractive for remote workers.
No visa-specific tax regime; since 2026, new tax residents can exempt foreign-source income for 20 years (Income Tax Law Art. 20/D, Law No. 7582)
Local Income
Income earned from local Turkey sources is taxable at standard rates.
The digital nomad visa carries no tax break of its own. The income-tax waiver linked to the Türkiye Tech Visa belongs to a separate programme for people working at Turkish R&D companies and does not cover nomad-visa holders, who must work for non-Turkish entities. Non-residents are taxed in Turkey only on Turkish-source income. Separately, Law No. 7582 (Official Gazette No. 33270, 4 June 2026) added Article 20/D to the Income Tax Law: individuals deemed settled in Turkey from 1 January 2026 who had no domicile and no tax liability there in the previous three calendar years are exempt from income tax on foreign-source earnings for 20 years. The exemption follows tax residency, not the visa, and its implementing rules are delegated to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, so check how they apply before relying on it.
